Dear THOA Members and Health Science Educators,

Welcome to another exciting school year from the Texas Health Occupations Association! As your President, I am honored and privileged to serve our vibrant community of educators across the great state of Texas.

Before entering the classroom, I began my career as a Registered Nurse. In healthcare, one fundamental truth is instilled in us from day one: nursing is a teamwork profession. No nurse operates in isolation. We rely on one another, communicate constantly, and collaborate seamlessly because everything we do is focused on one common goal—the good of the patient.

Teaching is no different. Just as nurses and other healthcare professionals work together to care for their patients, health science teachers work together for the good of our students and the future of healthcare. The high school students sitting in our classrooms today are the future nurses, doctors, technicians, and healthcare leaders of tomorrow. Preparing them for these critical roles is a monumental responsibility—and it is a mission we cannot accomplish alone.

With more than 3,000 high schools spread across Texas, vast distances separate many of our classrooms. Yet, geographical boundaries must never isolate us. Teachers must remain on each other’s team, even when we are miles apart across the state.

This is precisely where THOA steps in. THOA serves as the bridge that connects us, ensuring that no health science educator ever feels alone. Through our association, we share high-quality lesson materials, innovative teaching strategies, and a strong, supportive network of peers. THOA unites us into a single, cohesive team dedicated to elevating health science education in every corner of Texas.

Whether through our summer conference, online resource drive, or our ongoing professional support networks, THOA is here to ensure you have the resources, connection, and encouragement you need to succeed.
