THOA, Inc. Standing Committees
Budget: Plan a working budget for the upcoming year for THOA, Inc. for approval at the spring board meeting. The Executive Director will serve as chairperson and two area directors will serve as members. The Treasurer will serve as an informational participant only.
Membership/Marketing: Promote THOA, Inc. to new and prospective members. Select items for membership incentives to be given at the annual Professional Development Conference. An area director will serve as chairperson. Members will consist of at least two other persons from areas not represented by the chair. Ordering information for selected items will be given to Treasurer.
Nominating: Secure a full slate of officers to be elected for the THOA Board of Directors (President Elect, Secretary, and Treasurer). The past president will serve as chairperson along with 2 other THOA, Inc. members.
Scholarship: Review and update scholarship application forms annually and submit revisions to Executive Director for placement on Website. Select scholarship recipients during or before summer Professional Development Conference. Chairperson to present scholarship recipients at THOA, Inc. luncheon during summer PDC. Select Sue Alder Memorial Scholarship recipient at HOSA State Leadership Conference and present scholarship at closing Awards session of conference. If Chairperson is not attending the state conference, be sure someone from the THOA Board or committee will select and present the scholarship. Review applicants for Distinguished Teacher Recognition, and if criteria are met, recognize teacher at THOA Awards Luncheon with a certificate and a check. One area director will serve as chairperson along with 2 other THOA members.
Outstanding Teacher: Review and update application forms annually and submit revisions to Executive Director for placement on Website. Include directions for selection in area meeting agenda and give copy of each application to each area director. Area directors will give names of teachers selected to Chair at end of area meetings. Interview times will be assigned. The President Elect will serve as chairperson assisted by two Board members appointed to the committee.
Fundraiser: Advertise and recruit items for the fundraiser to be held at the annual Professional Development Conference. Organize and setup the fundraiser. An area director will serve as chairperson. Members may consist of one person from each area not represented by the chairperson.
Sponsorship: Seek and obtain THOA, Inc. partners from business and industry. Sponsorship is independent of vendors who display at conferences. An area director will serve as chairperson and will seek assistance from all area directors. Information about sponsorship from a business or industry partner will be forwarded to the Executive Director for documentation and appropriate follow-up.
Exhibitor: Recruit exhibitors. Solicit door prize items to be given at THOA Luncheon. The Conference Coordinator will chair with assistance of the area directors from the location of the PDC.
